Handsome, sensitive star of a series of light romances of the 1950s; also memorable as the heavily disguised Arab spy in Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (1956). Gelin was married to actress Danielle Delorme from 1945 to 1954 and is the father of producer Xavier Gelin and actress Maria Schneider. He has published several collections of poems.
