Wild Bill: Hollywood Maverick (1996)
as Cinematographer
Presented by an impressive lineup of collegues and admirers, a documentary about the long-underrated talent of the late legendary action director William A. Wellman (1896-1975), one of Hollywood's most distinguished journeymen helmers. William A. Wellman drew on his experiences as a fighter pilot during World War I to create a series of films about men of action as rugged, sentimental, raucous and tender as the director himself. He was equally noted for his off-screen battles with executives; and after building his career at Paramount and Warner Bros., Wellman vowed never to sign another long-term studio contract, and went on his way, refusing to take guff from anybody!
