  • Too bad he didn't get farther, good actor!

I think he was a good actor, just didn't get the breaks. In PETRIFIED FOREST, he got the job BOGART was supposed to have, and I can't imagine it any other way. A good build, he was a muscle man, but with good looks. He had a great smile, & did a really good job in this, and the few other movies I have seen. ANOTHER ONE - "FORT APACHE", he is the "evil" Quincannon, who (protected by the gov't) is one of the reason's the apache's are having problems with the cavalrymen. Took me a few times to find him in the movie - he wasn't on here when i first saw his name on it, but he was great in that role, too - a different type! CHICAGO CONFIDENTIAL, and others i have seen shows his diversity - but, he just didn't get the breaks. Not knowing his bio - don't know what happened. Perhaps he went into the service? ANYWAY - happens to a lot of good actors, especially then. Seemed often the "good looking" actors were the supporting "bad guys" if you focus on them...and he was one of them...but - if a woman was pretty - she was ON, but again, there are a lot of them who paid their dues and never made it. I just had to give FORAN a word, as I hink he was very good.
