A former English teacher at Yale, Ferris started his work in Hollywood with Fox Studios during the late 1930s. Ferris was married to actress Violet Kemble Cooper. He wrote two Broadway shows – ‘The First Stone’ and ‘Judas’ which starred Basil Rathbone.
