TOUGH GAL WITH A HEART OF GOLD
- ann smith
They just don't make them like Alice Faye anymore. She played a tough gal with a heart of gold and a deep contralto voice that could make ANY song resonate with sadness, love, bitterness -- anything she wanted to convey. No phony innocence for this gal. She knew who she was and played it that way. Like any tough gal, she could play tender, too and even vulnerable. Her off camera quotes reflect a stunning frankness that I find wonderful.
Wonderful Alice Faye
Alice Faye was the epitome of America 's good natured, talented and lovely musical moviestars in her heyday during the 1930s and 40s. Playing with the likes of Shirley Temple, John Payne and especially Tyrone Power, Alice always created a warm and touching presence on the screen . She proved to be as great a dramatic leading lady as she was a great musical star. Remembering that wonderful star Alice Faye on May 5th 2014, which would have been her 99?th birthday.
Earl Carroll's Vanities

The "Milestones" section is wrong. Alice did not try out for Ziegfeld Follies. It was Earl Carroll's Vanities.
very good movie
One of the very best
- Lillian Lee
A beautiful actress, singer and dancer. Has always been one of my very, very favorite actresses and I hope another collection will come up for her. We need Hello, Frisco, Hello on DVD and Hollywood Cavalcade, too. Alice, you're the best!
Alice Faye is not my favourite actress but she certainly is one of them. How couold she not be? When she was in Poor Little Rich Girl and Stowaway with Shirley Temple, she had such kind caring nuturing personality and I'm sure she was like that in real life. And that voice!!! The way she sang Alexander's Ragtime Band (my favourite Alice Faye song) it was amazing!! I only wish she was more remembered
Alice Faye was a wonderful actress and singer. Watch any of her movies and you'll agree with me. My favorite movie of hers is Week-End in Havana.
