Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Whoever said nice girls finished last probably never met Hilary Duff. When she was just 13 years old, Duff became the idol of millions of girls, thanks to a starring role in Disney's "Lizzie McGuire" (Disney Channel, 2001-04), and a good-girl image that differed from the other teen queens of her time. While celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan and twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen took over the front page of tabloid magazines for their underage partying and frequent trips to rehab, Duff - who the New York Daily News called a 2002 version of Annette Funicello - focused on acting, music and establishing an empire that included her own clothing line and fragrance.

Notes

"It's still a little weird getting out of a car and having all these people screaming for you. Sometimes I get down thinking I don't have a normal life. I don't have any privacy. But I love what I do and when I see (that) other people like it, too, it all comes out okay."---Duff quoted to People, July 7, 2004.

"She has that personality that seems so approachable, and I think that's why she has such a huge following,"---says "A Cinderella Story" costar Regina King People, July 16, 2004.

"There may come a time when I do something that people might be shocked by. It's all in the timing."---Duff to People, May 9, 2005.
