Married to actress Maude Fealy for seven years, they created the Fealy Durkin stock company and were quite successful, performing in Denver and other cities. Durkin played on the American stage for 30 years and on Broadway appeared in ‘Julie Bonbon’ with George Pauncefort, ‘The Barrier,’ ‘Welcome to Our City’ with Maclyn Arbuckle and Mary Duncan, ‘Success’ and ‘Robert E. Lee’ with Alfred Lunt.
