I just love patty so much
I became a fan two years ago. i cant believe i never gave patty a chance, back when i was younger, i have always been into the classic movies, shows and actors, i saw miracle worker for the first time in grade 10, sadly, my class including me, laughed at most of it, I couldnt help it, then that was it. in 09, a girl i used to talk to introduced me to sharon tate, i became a fan of sharon's and decided to watch valley of the dolls, while watching, i soon became a fan of barbara parkins(shakes head in shame) LOL. anyways, i watched it a second time and after really paying attention, i fell in love with anna(patty), neely is now offically my favorite movie character and valley of the dolls is my #1 favorite movie, despite what some people say, anna was fantastic in valley, she made the movie fun, interesting, and an obsession for me. anna is a truly talented, gifted, beautiful person, she's battled alot in her life, and triumphed, she's an inspiration, and will always remain my idol, and although i dont know her personally, she will always have a place in my heart. keep up the great work anna.
i am very interested in anna where her irish ancestry came in through her father
There has never been an actress like Patty Duke.

There has never been, and never will be, an actress quite like Patty Duke. She was a person that had to overcome extreme hardships while growing up with her tyranical managers John and Ethel Ross, and then battled manic depressive disorder in her older years up till she wrote her first auto-biography "Call Me Anna". Her life story is one of terrific triumph and so shows through in her acting. Born Anna Marie Duke, Patty began acting in commercials with her big brother Raymond during the early 1950's. She acted in small movie roles during the 50's, appearing in films like "Happy Anniversary" and "The 4-D Man". But it wasn't till her part as Helen Keller in the play vesion of "The Miracle Worker" on Broadway that she got her first "big break". Eventually the play was turned into a movie version and that was when she became the youngest actress of he 60's to win an academy award! She became a famous actress overnight and was given the opportunity to star in her own television show, the now famous "The Patty Duke Show". CBS made a reunion movie of the show in 1996, "The Patty Duke Show Reunion Movie". She also began a singing career during the mid 1960's and scored a few top 40 hits! Once the 60's ended Patty went into more mature roles that gained her criticism and praise. From her role in "Valley of the Dolls" to her emmy award winning performance as Annie Sullivan opposite Melissa Gilbert's Helen Keller in the TV version of "The Miracle Worker". Patty continues to be an advocate for people with mental disorders and acts in effective TV and Broadway roles. Patty Duke is one of the best actresses of all time and she will continue to live in people's hearts. She is an example of someone that overcame hard obstacles in life and came out of it winning! She will continue to be a an influence for many until the end of time. That's the kind of actress Patty Duke is.
Patty Duke is a phenomenal actress

She has been my favorite since I was 11 years old. She is always worth watching even in the most predictable made for TV movies. It amazes me that she has never been able to do more feature films...she is every bit as good an actress as her contemporaries...but film stardom has somehow eluded her and I don't understand it. She has certainly given us some wonderful performances on the small screen however and I never miss something that she is a part of. I hope that movie stardom is still ahead of her....hopefully some producers with a head on their shoulder will see the talent they are missing by letting this incredible actress go by.
One of my favorite actresses.
Patty Duke has always been one of my favorite actresses. She has amazing skill and her performances are consistently fine. While her performance as Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker" has been justly celebrated, I think her best performance is in a made for TV movie called "My Sweet Charlie". It is a simply beautiful piece of acting and confirms she was one of the finest actresses of her generation.
