Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Amy Aquino has built up a reputation in Hollywood as an actress who can command tough, female character roles in both film and television. Amy graduated from Harvard with a Bachelorâ¿¿s degree in Biology and then went on to receive her MFA from the Yale School of Drama. She landed her first motion picture part in 1989â¿¿s "Moonstruck" and went on to star in the critically acclaimed television series "Brooklyn Bridge" in 1991. Aquino played Dr. Joanna â¿¿Joeyâ¿¿ Diamond, usually considered her breakthrough part, in David E. Kelleyâ¿¿s hit, "Picket Fences," a role that ultimately earned her a SAG Award nomination in 1996. Aquino went on to have recurring roles as other doctors in television shows, such as "ER" and "Felicity." Most of her television roles have been recurring and/or guest spots. The latter include "Weeds," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Everybody Loves Raymond," "The West Wing," and "Judging Amy," just to name a few. In 1995 she married a stage carpenter, Drew McCoy. Shortly after the cancellation of "Brooklyn Bridge" in 1993, Aquino joined the board of the Screen Actors Guild and, as of 2010, served as the secretary-treasurer.
