Tony, was a Good Friend and Actor, He was personable and interested in those that he met. He is missed very much by those that knew him. HE WAS NEVER GIVEN A CHANCE TO ACT IN OTHER THAN LOVER ROLLS. (TYPE CAST) Marc

Please tell me when you will be showing the movie again so I can see the entire movie or where I can purchase the DVD. Thank you,,, and LOVE TCM! Diane

  • Anthony Dexter Remembered

Sadly, little is ever said or seen of Anthony Dexter these days. It is a tribute to TCM to have played some of the movies that he has performed in. The first movie I remember seeing was "The Brigand" and thought that this person had an appealing charm that was captured on screen. The most memorable movie was and still is his portrayal of the silent film star Rudolph Valentino in "Valentino". The studio could not have picked a more suitable person nor look-a-like for that matter. I sincerely hope that TCM continues it's fantastic line-up of memorable stars such as Anthony Dexter to entertain us. Remaining..... Yours truly, Rita

I never seen any other movie by Anthony Dexter until I saw Valentino. I really enjoy the film very much especially his dancing the tango with Patricia Medina. These young people competing on Dancing with the Star should take notice on how a tango is danced. When are you showing another film with Anthony Dexter. I like to see what else he did during his film career Thanks Julia

I caught the last part of his movie "Valentino" last week. When will I be able to get a DVD of this movie for my movie library? It must be around as it was on TCM.

  • Thanks for the Memories, TCM !!!!!

I had seen Anthony Dexter in a pirate film back when I was a child in the late 50's and then watched any films of his that I could find into the 60's. I had a huge crush (puppy-love) on him at the time. Until yesterday, March 27, 2008, I hadn't seen one of his films in almost 40 years; it seems they don't show the old swashbucklers that often. When I saw "Valentino" yesterday, I immediately remembered him and was sorry that I had missed seeing his films for so long. I did, however, remember why I had a crush on him so long ago !!!! My Lord, what an absolutely drop-dead gorgeous man !!!! When I googled him, I was so sad to find out about his passing in 2001. I am glad that he put his talents to work teaching and seemed to find happiness away from Hollywood. RIP and "God-speed" Tony: may the angels appreciate you as well as we did here!!

I am surprised that Anthony Dexter never appeared in more movies than he did.He certainly had the criteria for being a leading man in motion picture films-handsome(resembled R. Valentino),fine actor, able to play any character as well as any leading man at the time.I wonder why he never went beyond the few films in which he appeared? Can TCM give me answer?

  • A great movie actor and film.

Please find a way to show the 1951 VALENTINO starring Anthony Dexter and Eleanor Powell. Film is produced by Edward Small. Great entertainment!
