His big break came in 2003 when he was cast as assistant medical examiner Gerald Jackson on "NCIS." Demmings played Jackson for two seasons on NCIS, but his character was eventually written out the show at the beginning of season three. He returned to familiar territory playing uniformed figures on shows like "Bones," as well as the long-running daytime soap "General Hospital" (ABC, 1963- ), throughout the remainder of the decade. In 2013 Demmings nabbed a part in the low-budget crime thriller "The Cheating Pact." Staying true to form, he played a detective in the film.
