The world mourns the loss of a ray of beauty, a ray of humor, and the testimonial that hard work & determination DO pay off.

Passing of a beautiful star.

Today the world learned of the passing of Yvonne De Carlo on Jan. 7th in Hollywood, California. Perhaps best remembered for her portrayal of Lily Munster in the sixties camp comedy TV classic "The Munsters", Canadian born De Carlo had been a stalwart performer in films since the forties. Indeed, her star making vehicle, "Salome, Where She Danced" in 1945, remains a cult classic. She followed this early success with a series of B-westerns and adventure pics, mostly for Universal Pictures. Despite, their B status, De Carlo always lent gusto to her roles and no actress was more beautiful when photographed in Technicolor. Occasionally, De Carlo was given better roles in superior pictures such as "Criss Cross" with Burt Lancaster, "Captain's Paradise" with Alec Guinness and Celia Johnson, "Death of a Scoundrel" with George Sanders, "The Ten Commandements" with Charlton Heston and "Band of Angels" with Clark Gable. She was a wonderful actress who gave many of us hours of enjoyment on the screen. Rest well.
