Dear ms. Doris Day, My father has been watching your films since I can remember, you are an inspiration to him and now me as well. I am 20 years old and have grown to love everything you have done. My father is my everything and is my life. He has always given me and my three siblings everything he possibly could to make us happy. I don't know how to go about this, but I would really love if he could meet you. He always makes me turn off my shows to watch your movies and talks about you in such positive ways. I know it would mean the world to him if he could meet you. I don't know what would make him happier actually. I know this probably isn't even going to get to you but maybe someone who is reading this could help me out... He is the best father ever and nothing would make me happier then seeing his smile when shaking your hand. Either way you are a beautiful person Inside and out, and I wanted to thank you for making my father laugh when he is down. But most importantly I want to thank you for being you! Sincerely, Erin Saft

Dear Sir: I LOVE Doris Day and all her movies but my favorites are those she starred in with Rock Hudson and James Garner and Tony Randall! These men knew how to play comedy opposite this most gifted actress! If I could watch "The Thrill of it All", "Move Over Darling", "Lover Come Back" and "Pillow Talk" every single day, my life would be so much happier and the problems of the world would fade...for that matter, if more people would watch more Doris Day movies everyday, there would be less turmoil and more laughter and more REASONS to laugh! Thank you, Doris Day, for your VAST contribution to making our lives more happy and meaningful!

Doris Day is a fantasy. Her beauty, her smile, her voice and the way she looked at you through the camera was not reality. What man did not love her? I understand why men fought over her in years past. Myself, I always thought her vocal talents and her acting were underrated because of her beauty But, Doris Day was real and very talented--I'm under her spell---"It's Magic"

Doris Day, is a fantastic actress and one of my very favorites. She is able to play drama, romance, mysteries and comedy. Then there is that voice of hers, just beautiful. I Love her movies and plan on adding to my collection.

I have been a fan of Doris Day since forever. Her spirit always inspired me, her attitude spoke volumns. and her gift of acting she gave to us all was nothing short of brillent. Her personality was always up, even if she was down and going through a lot. I know life was not easy for her, but you never saw that in public or on the screen. Her voice, without a doubt left yu wanting to hear more. I look for her movies all the time and am dissappointed she was not featured on the August hot summer night lineup. Please show more of her movies.

Where does anyone begin to tell of the great tallent that is Doris Day. She has done it all, and everything she has ever done has been nothing short of a work of art. Her singing voice was my first introduction to her many years ago. Such a soft relaxing voice, and also a voice with a great range. Then there is her work in the movies. She has stared along side of many of Hollywood Greats and has shown her grweat tallent there as well. She is probably one of the last living all-round great tallents left. TCM would have to highlight her for at least a month to showcase her great tallent. AND HOPEFULLY SOON!

I love Doris Day. She's my favorite actress of all time. I only wish she hadn't ended her career so soon. It would have been nice to have seen her star in movies during her later years but I'm so grateful for the work she has done because I have enjoyed watching her movies over and over again. The thing I've always loved most about Doris Day's movies were how happy and upbeat they always were. I'm always left with happy thoughts and a smile after watching one of her movies. Her beauty and grace lit up the screen like an angel. I hope she knows how much she is still loved.

    • 2009-04-04

What can you say about Day? She was just an amazing screen talent. Wholesome yet sexy. Could play funny or serious. Could sing beautifully and I've seen her dance very well in short sequences, she never had to do a long one. The official biography on this site says she was very difficult to work with, a demanding diva, but I have never read this anywhere else and I doubt it is true. I think the biographer does not care for her much and it shows in his TCM biography. Also, he gives the wrong year for her birthdate: it is 1924, not 1922. Too bad she didn't find lasting happiness with a man, but heck, a lot of attractive, successful, talented women don't find that. When I'm down and I watch one of her movies, it inevitably cheers me up for a bit. Most recent example: It Happened to Jane. A charming movie. The thing about Day, she seems totally natural in her parts. Believable. A determined woman who finds her strength, in most of her parts. Sounds like her in real life, too. Happy Birthday, Miss Day.

I would like to thank you for running Doris Day Films. She was a gifted performer and made an effort to make her large audience happy. She had a voice that went way beyond just Que, Sera Sera. She is a product of the 1950's but her talent is under rated. We will never such a positive, beautiful image like her again.

Doris is one of the best stars there has been in a long time. The older movies are so much better then the ones today. They don't have all the foul words that come with the today movies. and skimpy dresses. I am raising the 3rd set of children and these are the movies I permit them to watch. Doris and Gorden MacCray were some of the best teams I have seen in the movies. There are others but these are the best.

I have been enamored with Ms Day since I first saw her in Send Me No Flowers when 1 was 9 years old. My affections have never waned. I have all of the films that have been released on DVD and am anxiously awaiting the release of the remaining few from her Warner BRothers days and even those deemed critically poor from the end of her career. She just always makes me smile.

What a wonderful actress! Doris Day is so versatile -- equally talented in musicals, comedies, or taut drama. She somehow makes you feel as if you know her, or as if you know exactly what she's feeling in each of her roles. She's such a warm, genuinely nice person. Actresses of her talent and caliber are quite rare. I think few actresses of today will ever have the popularity and longevity she enjoyed and so obviously deserved. The talent just isn't out there.

I also totally enjoy all the Doris Day Movies. Met her in the 70's, is a very sweet woman and deserves all the best in her retirement years! Would like to know when you will have another all day devoted to her movies. I enjoy hearing her singing, in this world it is so refreshing and relaxing to me to listen to her gorgeous voice! I can watch her movies over and over again so please show them soon. Where can I check to see when they will be scheduled.

I love Doris Day films. Last night I watched Turner Classic Movies of Doris Day for more than eight hours straight. Her beautiful ballads always brings me to tears returning me to my past memories. And the clothes she wore were perfect and I always loved to see what hairdo she would have next. I intend on buying a lot of DVD's of her films.

I wish you would show more like "Pajama Game", "Calamity Jane", "Midnight Lace", "Move Over, Darling", "Send Me No Flowers", "Lover Come Back" and "Billy Rose's Jumbo". I missed Jumbo because it came on while I was still asleep at 6 a.m. Please play it again.

I remember Doris from the days of my youth in the 60's when my Mom brought me to the movie theatre to enjoy her final films. I wish I had lived earlier to experience first-hand the greatness of Doris' extreme talent. But thanks to seeing her films on (the original AMC in the 80's & 90's when i watched it), the fantastic TCM, I'm able to relish every moment, even now. I also missed most of her golden years of recordings from the 40's and 50's but listen with love to the collections I fortunately own. What a vocalist; so pure, joyful, honest and heartfelt. In fact, everything Doris has done and continues to do, even out of the limelight, follows that description. Especially, her lifetime passion of animal rights protection. I'm a proud member of the Doris Day Animal League and treasure my signed thankyou photo from her. But the world, as I am, should be grateful for the goodness this beautiful soul, known as Doris Day, gives to us all. She is the BEST!

Doris Day is by far the most talent actress that has eve lived. It amazes how she has never recieved an Academy Award. Her acting and vocalablity were far above anyone of her time, and now. TCM I wish you would play more of her moovies.

  • Underrated

    • Katherine Simon
    • 2007-11-09

While it's true that Doris Day is a perennial favorite amongth classic movie devotees, it is also true that it's not necessarily for her acting abilities. By in large, Doris Day is remembered for her musicals, her incredible voice, and her brilliant smile. However, all it takes is a viewing of THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH or LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME to see just what an ingenious actress she really was and how completely under-used her talents were. She's been an inspiration to any number of singers and dancers, but her influence reaches wider than even that. I'm a film history student, someday to be a professor, and I can safely say it's all because of her. A chance viewing of BY THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON when I was 12 was enough to get me interested in finding out more about this radiant blonde with the entrancing voice, and, from there, it was easy to branch out into other actors, films, and the industry at large. So, hats off to Doris Day. It's about time she got her full dues. Other must-sees: ROMANCE ON THE HIGH SEAS, I'LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS, PILLOW TALK.

I'M GLAD THAT TCM SHOWS MOST OF HER FILMS AND WISH THEY WOULD SHOW THEM ALL!DORIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST AT EVERYTHING SHE DOES, WEATHER ACTING OR SINGING DORIA DAY IS MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a DD junkie....and the same for TCM and Robert Osborne....Both are Treasures to TV. I own all the Doris Day movies shown except Tea For Two...still waiting for WB Home Video to release the Region I version here in the US. I have lived long enough to finally have a 42 " TV...and now my favorite Movies are huge at home like the Theatre screen seemed to me as a kid going to so many Movies. Thank you TCM for this wonderful Day with Doris...my eyes are still sore from staying all the way through Julie till 5 am. Crazy sincce I have all the Films but there is an excitement about the presentations, the Robert Osborne rebiews. He is so right on about Love Me or Leave Me. I was struck again about how spectacular the acting was and the chemistry between Doris Day and James Cagney. All these films would be nothinfg like they are today were it not for Ted Turner and AFI. Thanks so much for all the restoration and preservation of these fine Films. Tonight I got yet another surprise...seeing Whispering Smith for the first time ever. It was beautiful in it's art Direction and color photography and I had no idea that Robert Preston was so good long before The Music Man. and one last thing...the TCM Graphics department create the most outstanding graphics I have ever seen on Television. Dave

Doris Day is a lovely woman, actress, and singer. I adore her. I own about 12 or 13 of her movies and watch them all the time and never get tired of them. She has loads of energy and loves what she does, and it comes off on the screen during her movies. She is wonderful. And there is some misconseption that she is no longer alive, that is false. She is still alive and she runs a hotel in California.

Doris Day has brought a lot of laughs, entertainment, and beautiful music in my family's lives. She could give a moving performance in a drama as well as deliver a great comedic performance. Doris Day is truely an amazing actress. Even though many of her most famous roles were ones in comedy/romance movies, she really could hold her own in other genres. Not only could she act, but she could sing and very beautifully. I love the vibrato in her voice as she ends a line and she had a way of phrasing songs. She always came off sweet, charming, and beautiful. Someone a girl would like to be and a guy would like to date. I also think she presented herself well to the public and was a good role model.

Doris Day, without a doubt, is one of the most talented performers to ever grace the silver screen. Versatility is the key to Ms. Day's great success ... a terrific singer .... a great natural actress ... and a comedienne with impeccable timing. If all that wasn't enough, she had an ability to truly light up the screen. Her inherent goodness shone through in just about everything she did, and she made millions feel uplifted. To this day, (2006) she holds the record as the screen's number one female box office star, quite an accomplishment! Not only did she shine on the silver screen, but she excelled as a top-selling recording artist. There are not many personalities who maintained two full-time show business careers, and found herself at the top of popularity polls in each. There will never be another like Doris Day ... one in a billion!

Doris Day is so wonderfully beautiful, sweet, and talented. If it hadn't been for that long year she spent in bed over two broken legs, she probably never would have become the singer and actress that we adore today. Her kindness shines forth as she continues to rescue homeless dogs. We will forever be grateful for the beautiful girl ext door,Doris Day.
