Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Stan Daniels was a writer, director, and producer who made a name for himself working on the sitcoms "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Taxi." Daniels started out writing for "The Dean Martin Comedy Hour" in 1965, and penned jokes for "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" from '70 to '71. During the mid-'70s, Daniels wrote for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," one of the most lauded programs of the era, and he also served as a producer on the series. Following the end of that show, Daniels went on to co-create "Taxi," which debuted in '78, and he stayed involved in the popular series throughout its entire five-season run, even directing a couple of episodes. During the '80s and '90s, Daniels wasn't very active, though he did create the '91 sitcom "Roc." Heart problems led to Daniels's death in 2007, and he is fondly remembered for his significant contributions to TV comedies.
