Throughout his Hollywood career, Iain Mitchell acted in a wide variety of dramatic films. He had an early role on the television special "A Royal Scandal" (PBS, 1996-97). He additionally landed roles in the TV movies "Secret Weapon" (TNT, 1989-1990) and "Cracker: True Romance" (1996-97). At the time, he also appeared in movies like the dramatic adaptation "Scarlet and Black" (1993) with Alice Krige and "The Madness of King George" (1994) with Nigel Hawthorne. He also landed a role in the miniseries "Prime Suspect 7: The Final Act" (2006-07). Following that project, he acted on the silver screen, including roles in the comedy sequel "Fierce Creatures" (1997) with John Cleese, the action picture "The Parole Officer" (2001) with Steve Coogan and the comedy adaptation "The History Boys" (2006) with Richard Griffiths. Mitchell's more recent roles included the Natalie Portman dramatic adaptation "The Other Boleyn Girl" (2008), the Emily Blunt historical love story "The Young Victoria" (2009) and the Robert Downey Jr. hit action film "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" (2011).
