Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Best known for her four year stint as Commander Susan Ivanov on the syndicated sci-fi series, "Babylon 5", raven-haired beauty Claudia Christian got her start with a 1984 guest-spot on "Dallas" (CBS), which she parlayed into regular roles on short-lived series like "Berringer's" and "Blacke's Magic" (both NBC), as well many guest-starring appearances in episodic TV. She made her feature debut as a exotic dancer whose body became host for an alien being in "The Hidden" (1987), was part of the fine ensemble of "Clean and Sober" (1988) and delivered a performance that made "Hexed" (1993) worth watching, playing a once overweight model whose long-ago arson resulted in 32 deaths. Christian liked everything about her four years on "Babylon 5" except the dirty dealing that led to her departure, and if it's any consolation, the series did not survive long without her. (Although she was featured in two TV-movie spin-offs that aired on TNT in 1998.) Since then, she has acted in Phillipe Mora's "Snide and Prejudice" (1997) and starred in "A Wing and a Prayer", a 1998 USA Network movie. In 2001, Christian used her voice to bring the character Helga Sinclair to life in the animated feature "Atlantis: The Lost...

In 2001, Christian used her voice to bring the character Helga Sinclair to life in the animated feature "Atlantis: The Lost Empire." She then portrayed EZ Williams in the crime action feature "Half Past Dead" (2002).

Notes

Christian is the author of a series of children's boks entitled "The Misadventures of Emma Bradford".

About getting fired from "Babylon 5": " . . . I wanted to get their assurance that in the fifth season I could get at least four episodes off to do a film. That was the only thing I was asking for. No raise--accepting a paycut--simply less episodes, period. Ask yourself this: Why would I have done the TNT promos for the fifth season if I did not want to be involved . . .

" . . . when my agent spoke to [producer] John Copeland and mentioned Joe's [writer-creator J Michael Straczynski] offer to write me out of a few episodes, Mr. Copeland responded by saying 'That's not possible. If TNT wants her in every episode then she has to do all 22. That's the deal, take it or leave it . . .'

"If they really wanted me back, they would have accepted my plea through my agent to sit down and have a meeting. He was told by John Copeland that he was 'a dollar short and a day late.' They simply did not want to sit down with me." --Claudia Christian, from statement posted on the Internet
