Maytime
- Mark Rook
- 2010-04-26
Viewed the MGM musical "Maytime" recently for the first time. Lynne Carver as "Barbara" in a supporting role early on and again at the end of the story. Very sweet and pretty, almost doll like and can deliver a line reasonably well. I expected more of a southern accent from her, however her family heritage is southern, but she was raised out west. This was her first film billed as Lynne Carver. Previously in RKO musicals as Virginia Reid Sampson and often as one of the Goldwyn Girls. Maytime(1937) took the world by storm that year and starred Nelson Eddy and Jeannette MacDonald.
