Ben Carter worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Carter began his acting career with roles in such films as "Adventure's End" (1937), the Henry Fonda drama "Chad Hanna" (1940) and "Little Old New York" (1940). He also appeared in "Maryland" (1940) and "Dressed to Kill" (1941). He kept working in film throughout the forties, starring in "Sleeping West" (1941), the Ray Milland adventurous drama "Reap the Wild Wind" (1942) and the romance "Crash Dive" (1943) with Tyrone Power. He also appeared in "Lady on a Train" (1945) with Deanna Durbin. Toward the end of his career, he tackled roles in the mystery "The Scarlet Clue" (1945) with Sidney Toler, "Dark Alibi" (1946) and "The Harvey Girls" (1946) with Judy Garland. He also appeared in the Linda Darnell drama "Night Without Sleep" (1952). Most recently, Carter worked on "Diabolique" (1996).
