The daughter of a musician and a vaudeville actress, Darleen Carr made her acting debut on the 1963-1965 adventure series "The Littlest Hobo" before voicing the The Girl in the animated Disney Classic "The Jungle Book." Also a singer, she gave an uncredited musical performance alongside her sister, the actress Charmian Carr, in the classic film "The Sound of Music." After portraying the daughter of a police detective (Henry Fonda) on the short-lived dramatic series "The Smith Family," Carr became known for embodying the very concept of "daddy's little girl," particularly with her recurring role as Karl Malden's offspring on the beloved crime drama "The Streets of San Francisco." Similarly, she depicted John F. Kennedy's favorite sister in the made-for-TV movie "Young Joe, The Forgotten Kennedy." With a further reputation for appearing on such TV Westerns as "The Oregon Trail" and "The Virginian," Carr contributed a highlight to the genre with her portrayal of the feisty newspaper editor Mary Lou Springer on the poker-centric adventure series "Bret Maverick."
