A long, mostly undistinqueshed career.
When I think of Richard Carlson, I think of a bland, face in the crowd actor who played in a great number of films, but hardly worth mentioning. However, he did seem perfectly well suited for his role in "The Little Foxes", in which he was in a cast including Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall, Teresa Wright, and based on a Lillian Hellman play. Somehow he seemed to be on an equal footing with Bette Davis, perhaps because his character allowed this, but perhaps it was a flash in the pan film. I don't think he ever came up with any performance that matched this, although he did play a major role in King Solomon's mines with Deborah Kerr.
