  • Red Buttons the consumate actor.

Red Buttons could play any role to the utmost. He never gave half measure, but gave 110%. If you never saw "Sayonara" with Marlon Brando, I suggest you get a copy and view it. He outshines Brando in every way. He was wonderful in "Hatari" & funny. But "Sayonara" was a wonderful dramatic role that he mastered. I'm sorry he is gone, because I think there were more roles he could have performed very very well.

I discovered Red Buttons years ago, and have always enjoyed his performances. Whether as the manic inventor assistant animal catcher to John Wayne in "Hatari!", or the emotional husband of a dying patient on "E.R.", you always got his best. I was not around when he began, but I have tried my best to catch up to all of the works he has out there. Unfortunately, I am sadly far behind. I shall continue to do my utmost to fulfill this quest especially now that he is gone.
