Aspiring author Eddie Morra is suffering from chronic writer''s block, but his life changes instantly when an old friend introduces him to NZT, a revolutionary new pharmaceutical that allows him to tap his full potential. With every synapse crackling, Eddie can recall everything he has ever read, seen or heard, learn any language in a day, comprehend complex equations and beguile anyone he meets-as long as he keeps taking the untested drug. Soon Eddie takes Wall Street by storm, parlaying a small stake into millions. His accomplishments catch the eye of mega-mogul Carl Van Loon, who invites him to help broker the largest merger in corporate history. But they also bring Eddie to the attention of people willing to do anything to get their hands on his stash of NZT. With his life in jeopardy and the drug''s brutal side effects taking their toll, Eddie dodges mysterious stalkers, a vicious gangster and an intense police investigation as he attempts to hang on to his dwindling supply long enough to outwit his enemies.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are!" That command is familiar to everyone who has played the children''s game, Hide and Seek. The words and game take us back to an innocent carefree time in our lives, where the simple goal was to find hiding playmates. Many children could even enjoy a spirited game with imaginary friends. But then, imaginary friends can sometimes seem so real For young Emily Callaway, her games of Hide and Seek with an imaginary friend named Charlie have become anything but simple and innocent. Instead, she finds herself in the middle of a series of increasingly nightmarish acts that even her father David cannot stop. Who--or what--is Charlie? David wonders. How can an "imaginary" entity have this kind of hold on her? Maybe Charlie is not imaginary at all, but instead a flesh-and-blood, malevolent presence?
Connie and Carla are two small-town ''girls'' whose dreams of stardom have taken them nowhere. From their debut in a school cafeteria to their current gig slinging drinks and belting out tunes at a Midwestern airport lounge, the singing and dancing duo simply refuse to let the less-than-enthusiastic crowd response dampen their showbiz drive. For Connie and Carla, everything''s coming up roses, naysaying boyfriends and snoring audience members notwithstanding. The girls lose one of their few supporters when their boss Frank ends up on the wrong end of a criminal deal--a scene they unfortunately happen to witness. Quicker than a fast change in the second act, Connie and Carla pack up their battered dreams and extensive assortment of wigs and costumes and hit the road, running for their lives. Convinced the killers will never look for them in a place utterly devoid of culture, the pair ends up in the Land of Dreamers, Los Angeles. In a new place with new identities, they create a cover (with a lot of cover-up) that makes them the toast of the town--headlining in a local drag club, they soon find the acclaim that has always eluded them, singing the show tunes they''ve always loved. Being famous is their dream come true--who cares if includes a tiny little lie? But trying to keep their secret turns out to be a real drag, especially when Connie meets Jeff, a real nice guy with whom she''d really like to be a real girl.

Based on Neil Sheehan''s Pulitzer Prixe-winning book, which tells the true story of John Paul Vann, one of the first U.S. senior military advisers sent to Vietnam. Initially determined to defeat the Communists, Vann soon realized that the way in which the war was being fought made victory impossible. He saw that the U.S. government was supporting a corrupt regime in South Vietnam, which had no intention of carrying out the reforms they espoused. Vann shared this information, becoming a major source for American journalists critical of the war. After he returned home in 1964, Vann became bored with domestic life and returned to Vietnam in 1965 as a civilian to help the war''s victims. Following Richard Nixon''s election as president, Vann was appointed a civilian general, the first in history, for his efforts. While serving in this capacity, Vann was killed in a helicopter crash in 1972.

Therapist Lucy Ackerman''s thirtieth birthday is a month away, and the pact that she and her best friend, painter Joe MacGonaughgill, made years ago may now have to be honored. They vowed to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge if they didn''t find love before turning thirty. Joe somehow finds the courage to make the big leap: he finally speaks to his ravishing neighbor, a woman he''s been watching -- and painting -- through his bedroom window for years. With their date on (and off) the bridge looming, Lucy and Joe find true love after all.
A prominent member of local society, Billy Halleck is self-conscious about his waistline, but his extra pounds don''t slow him down in the courtroom, where his latest triumph is to win the acquittal--and gratitude--of Mafioso Richie Ginelli. His weakness for food, however, inspires a terrible curse that is placed on him after he negligently, though accidentally, runs down an old Gypsy woman and conspires with influential friends to sidestep responsibility for the deed. Billy may have evaded punishment in the courts, but he can''t escape justice at the hands of the victim''s ancient father, Tadzu Lempke, who lays a Gypsy curse on him that shrivels not only his body but his heart as well. As Billy begins to waste away, he pleads with Ginelli to help him force Lempke to life the curse. The gangster''s brutal way of dealing with Lempke and his fellow Gypsies, however, pushes the increasingly emaciated Billy farther down the path of spiritual decay.
