Actor, director and writer for the stage and vaudeville, Brown started his movie career in 1916 and by 1918 was directing comedies and action films. Brown worked with director Clarence Brown on two successful films and moved to RKO to direct in 1929. After a number of low budget quickie films, Brown moved to England in 1938 to direct his final film, "He Loved an Actress."
