HE SAID IT!

Walter Brooke may have had the most famous one-word one-line role in movie history. In Mike Nichols' THE GRADUATE (1967) playing a character called Mr. Mcguire, he turned to Dustin Hoffman as the young graduate and famously said, "Plastics!" It invariably brought down the house. In 1948 I had the privilege of sharing the stage with Walter Brooke in THE COMMON GLORY, an historical pageant about Thomas Jefferson produced at Williamsburg, VA. We became friends. Then in 1967 he said, "Plastics!" and made history. I miss him. Tom F. Driver 3/31/2009
