Before long, Darvas figues the town is ripe for the taking and sends word for reinforcements, and each arriving train unloads a few suits and snappy-brim hats.Then they get rough, kill Sheriff Posey Meed(Guy Oliver)and rile up the citizens, led by cowhand Brad Farley(Richard Arlen), who had Darvas spotted for a wrong number just by the way he made moves on Sue Vancey(Mary Brian.)

Revolted by his rough proposal,she fires him as the Hammond foreman and she proceeds to the ranch. Stack informs her he has purchased the ranch for the payment of the back-due taxes, and she relents and rehires Dick and his friends to aid her in her fight against Stack.
