George Brent DOB
This is just a comment. George Brent was born in 1899. You have his birth as 1904. How could you get that wrong?

Movie Paper Collector mostly George Brent
- Nancy Brown
Movie Paper from the 20's and 30's is my passion. George Brent comprises a large portion of my collection. George was a fabulous actor, classy and suave. They dont make them like that anymore and I always enjoy his movies and vintage lobby cards.
Favorite Actor of the 30's and 40's
- Irene G.
George Brent is one of my all-time favorite actors. I don't understand why he was never nominated for an Academy Award. He was excellent in every role he played. I especially loved him in "'Til We Meet Again" with Merle Oberon. What a wonderful love story this film is.
George Brent was absolutely amazing in this film. His honesty and wide range of acting skills amazed me.He was so tender with a dying Bette Davis.I too love George Brent and think he was highly underated as an actor. I'm a new fan and look foward to seeing more of Mr. Brent's work
One of the Great Actors
- Debbie Nelson
Mr George Brent I love him he is among the best, although i think he was highly under rated. My favorite Brent movies are Great Lie, Her Reputation, and Honeymoon for Three. He was a man that was beyond handsome and very talented .I wish Rob Osborne would tell us more about this amazing man.
I love George Brent.
There never has been a sexier scene than George Brent dancing with Barbara Stanwyck in Baby Face. He sets the screen on fire. I could watch that over and over. Ahhh.
A Pleasure To Watch
What a wonderful actor. I always look forward to watching any of the movies he is in. From what I've read about George Brent on this site, I think he was a highly underrated actor. After seeing him play in Jezebel, I think he easily could have played Rhett Butler as well as Clark Gable. And he posessed that ironic sense of comedy and sophistication in, The Great Lie, just as much as Cary Grant did in movies like, The Awful Truth or My Favorite Wife. Sophisticated, charming, handsome, funny, intelligent, he was the whole package!
A Gorgeous Man, Great to Look AT
- Leatha Pearl
This man was a handsome debeneur, handsome, so fine. I loved to look at him. He was good in his roles. But mainly, a great looker.
A Solid and Dependable Performer
Brent was the kind of man and actor who was secure in his sills and himself....so much so that he did not mind subsuming his ego to provide solid support for many of his leading ladies. He was much respected by them as a result. Unlike many Hollywood actors, he was not preening, vain, egotistical, and shallow. He was a solid dependable actor that a director and cast could be sure would hold up his part...at least this is my impression from what I've seen of his work, and from what I've heard from other actress interviews and writings.
I agree with Suzy, who posted that there should be a George Brent day or month....personally, I would love a whole month of George Brent! I've so enjoyed discovering Kay Francis this month, and so pleased to find George Brent sharing the screen with her, in a couple of them. Looking at the filmography posted here on TCM's website for GB, there must be enough films available for showing for a whole month, so that he will be remembered just as much as the heavy hitters. Everyone knows names like Gable, Brando, Tracy, Stewart, Bogart or Cagney. How many know who you are talking about when you say Brent?
George Brent Day or Month...
I would really like to see this happen. I would like it very much if Robert would give us (the viewers) a chance to know George Brent like he has with so many other Actors. I enjoy classics very much. I'm getting a big kick out the info. that Robert has shared with on Kay Francis. This month has been great. Thanks again for sharing... Best Regards, Suzy
A very talented, elegant man
- Nancy E Brown
George Brent is one of the most eloquent versatile actors ever. He made it look smooth. I love his movies and have several in my library - Cant say enough about him. He is my favorite.
George Brent's marriages
Brent was married four times, the first three were to Ruth Chatterton, Constance Worth and Ann Sheridan. He was only married to Miss Chatterton for two years, was divorce a year to the day of marrying Ann Sheridan and was married only seven months to Miss Worth. But, he WAS married for twenty-seven years to Janet Michaels, a former model and dress designer. They had two children together and were married until the day she died in March 1974 of cancer.
George Brent, A Believable Guy!
I have seen numerous motion pictures with George Brent and enjoyed all of them Three that come immediately to mind is Tommorrow is Forever where he co-stars with Claudette Colbert; Jezebel with Betty Davis and The Spiral Staircase with Dorothy McGuire. I am not familiar with his private life, but based upon his acting and aura, I would have to think he was a gentleman of class! I will always consider him one of the better actors of his day and an exceptional actor compared to the ilk we have today.
I adore George Brent.
- Kathy Covert
What a handsome gentleman! I really enjoy his movies. His marriages were awfully short-lived, and I find that disappointing, but I guess that's Hollywood. Please keep playing his movies.
