First Asian actress to play a leading romantic role in silent films of the 1920s. As her career progressed Wong also played many supporting parts, was known for her beauty, depth and versatility as an actress. Among her noteworthy early roles: The Toll of the Sea (1923), Old San Francisco (1927) and Shanghai Express (1932).
