Carey began his career with the Goldwyn company in the late 1910s and remained with Goldwyn during its merger with Metro studios in 1924. In 1935, MGM started its short subject department and Wilson was one of its major contributors. He produced several one and two reel series, among them a group of films dealing with Nostradamus and his predictions. Married to actress Carmelita Geraghty, Wilson is noted as being one of the 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
