    Dame May Whitty moved us all in the perennial favorite -- Night Must Fall. Not much fun for her when Robert Montgomery does her in. Just watched The Lady Vanishes (again) on TCM; what doddy good fun she is. I'm not sure if it is actually she dodging those bullets and dashing through the underbrush in the climatic finale, but it certainly makes for a lasting image. And what a presence and benevolent authority she contributes to Mrs. Miniver. When Whitty speaks, we listen. There is nothing like a Dame.
