Stephen Boyd was a 20th Fox star and made many fine movies at that studio including Fantastic Voyage, The Best of Everything, Woman Obsessed. Boyd's greatest hit was at MGM in the Academy Award Winning Ben Hur. Many feel Boyd stole the picture from Charlton Heston! A fun Stephen Boyd picture is The Oscar with a cameo by Merle Oberon, et al Stephen Boyd was leading man to many of the screen's greatest stars such as Sophia Loren, Susan Hayward, Doris Day Joan Crawford, Raquel Welch and Yvette Mimieux. Mr. Boyd conveyed elegant masculine charm and died far too young.

Carlean "The Oscar" was a made for TV movie. Why it has not be repeated on cable is a mystery unless it was lost. I watched Boyd in the file Shalako shown on TCM last Saturday. It was a film I might add, I had never seen before, which is saying something. Stephen played a rat, but he was good at it. I do love watching him in Ben Hur every year. Amanda

I REALLY LOVED THE ACTOR STEPHEN BOYD. MANY YEARS AGO I SAW THE MOVIE THE OSCAR ON EITHER AT THE SHOW OR ON TELEVISION. IT HAS NOT BEEN SHOWN IN YEARS, WHY NOT? THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE WITH A LOT OF STARS AND YOU WOULD THINK THAT WITH THE OSCARS COMING UP IT WOULD BE SHOWN. DO YOU HAVE THIS MOVIE IN YOUR COLLECTON?
