Vera-Ellen Westmeyr Rohe, Feb 16, 1926, Cincinnati, d. 1981. She was a Radio City Music Hall Rockette. A dancer from the age of ten. Her first film was "Wonder Man" with Danny Kaye in 1945. A versatile, petite, energetic blonde she stood out as one of Hollywood's most accomplished and most versatile dancers, opposite such partners as Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. She retired from the screen in the late 50s. Her final film was "Let's Be Happy" (UK) 1957

...sad, but true: she suffered from an eating disorder that made her neck aged and wrinkled far beyond her years...hence note that she always was wearing outfits that covered her neck (note difference between "sister's" dress with Rosemary Clooney in "White Christmas)....
