A department store owner''''s sons compete for his secretary''''s heart.
Tim is dismissed from the Rangers for letting his friend Kane who is accused of murder escape. When newspaper editor Alexander dies, Tim takes over to continue that fight against Heston and his stooge Sheriff. He also hopes to find the notorious leader of an outlaw gang and to also help Kane prove his innocence.
Rogers plays a small town banker in the 1890s whose chief rival is the deacon (Middleton) with whom he has traded horse flesh. Taylor is a bank teller who places a winning $4,500 bet on a 10-1 harness racing horse, making him Rogers' bank partner.

Cowhand Clay Conning (Kenneth Harlan) rescues a theatrical troupe in the town of Red Rock by using the lead singer/dancer, Blondie (Nita Martan), to threaten to compromise the hotel owner, Abner Jenkins (Harry Todd). Clay pays their hotel bill but Martha Jenkins (Ethel Wales) whose husband also owns the opera house objects to the showing going on. Clay, who has fallen in love with Mary (Dorothy Gulliver), the troupe's leading lady, begins courting Mrs. Jenkins at a level she thinks is higher than he does. Frank Blake (Charles King), a cattle rustler convicted by Clay, holds up the box office after the show begins.
After being shot, a dying Marshal Dawson gives Dave Hayes his badge and asks him to finish his job. Dave becomes Marshal but when Bowie, the man that shot Dawson appears, he exposes Dave as an imposter. Dave is then in trouble when Edwards incites the mob to lynch him.
