Biography CLOSE THE FULL BIOGRAPHY

Actress Beverly Todd has taken on a variety of film and television roles throughout her career, including a pair of memorable performances alongside Morgan Freeman. Todd got her start in acting with roles in such films as "The Lost Man" (1969), "They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!" (1970), and "Brother John" (1971). In the 1980s, Todd appeared on such renowned television programs as "Lou Grant," "Benson," and "Magnum, P.I.," and also had an extended role on the short-lived program "The Redd Foxx Show." But it was her first film role with Freeman, the 1989 Joe Clark biopic, "Lean on Me" (as the character Ms. Levias), that turned out to be one of Todd's top performances of the decade. Further roles would follow, including a pair of standout performances in the early 21st centuryâ¿¿in the 2004 film "Crash" (as the mother of Don Cheadle's character) and 2007's "The Bucket List" (as Virginia Chambers), the latter of which was her second film with Freeman. In addition to acting, Todd is also active with community work: she co-founded a private school for preschool children, "Sunshine Circle," and is the founder/president of a non-profit cultural arts organization, "Hollywood Sisters."
