His wife's name is spelled, "Jeffreys," not "Jeffries." His first wife was Ann Sothern, whom he credited with teaching him much about the movie and acting business. He was one of the best golfers in Hollywood, and after retiring from acting, he and his son had a custom golf club business. He was best known (with his wife, Anne Jeffreys) for the TV series "Topper."
