What can one say about an actor who is primarily known for only one film role despite having a long lists of credits in his short lived career? What can one say about an actor who attracts attention in scenes with the great Bette Davis? If Stephenson was a bigger star when he was in The Letter he probably would have been up for Best Actor instead of Best Supporting Actor. In fact the movie is as much about the Howard Joyce character and his internal conflict which Stephenson performs brilliantly as much as the Leslie Crosbie character. Speaking for myself, I am watching Stephenson during Leslie's confession over what really happened. What can be said? I guess the only thing would be what if? What if James Stephenson lived?
