Besides being an outstanding actor, James Stacy has a heart as big as Texas. He was a dedicated actor, often memorizing the entire script instead of just his lines and cues. He continued to act, even after his horrible accident, earning 2 Emmy nominations. Talk about guts and spirit - I have never known anyone else who has what he has. I would like to see TCM show more of his movies on the cable channels, especially "Just A Little Inconvenience", "My Kidnapper, My Love", "Summer Magic" - just to name a few. I would also like to see 20th Century Fox put the Lancer series on DVD. There are a lot of people out there who have been waiting for years for this to happen. I know it would be a big seller because Jim Stacy has a very large international fan base. His fans travel from all over the world to see him at western conventions across the United States. He is always gracious and courteous and is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Give it a try, TCM. You won't be disappointed in the outcome.
What a wonderful character to have played.....Johnny Madrid from Lancer :) I loved it then and still enjoy it often via youtube.......Sadly your career has been riddled with challenges that you seem to have overcome time and again. Your latest pictures are show a mature man who still is a heart throb for many women out there :) We loved you then and continue to love you today Jim because you are a survivor who reminds us that no one is perfect but we have the ability to live and love life forever :)
Memories of Lancer

On the first run I was 7 and wanted him to be my older brother. Then I saw it in french loved it as much. In my teen years it was the reruns in english but no english tv in my foster home...my english teacher was inviting me at her house on thursdays on the purpose of helping her correct some exams or homework so I could watch it at her place. My foster mom did not refuse because she was a teacher. Thanks to her I even got the nerve to write him a letter never had an answer but maybe foster mom threw it away. I, and from that tragic day feel sad for him every time I think of him. Living and working where looks is everything loosing limbs did not correspond to the image he should project. I guess everything fell apart. The look in his eyes was not the same anymore, where was a spark was only filled with sadness. The fall must have been hard. I hope that he had family and friends around him, to help and support because now he seems very lonely. The caregiver in me still wish he was my older brother...he helped me during my younger years I could never repay for that. He was my first tv crush. Thanks MWE. Take care of yourself big brother. Will always remember him for that cute smile and his sweet boyish charm. He had a softness and gentleness about him that was very endearing and would draw you deeper into his world. I'm sure he still has those qualities even now, where ever he is. Wonderful actor and beautiful human being. We miss you Maurice William Elias.
I always thought that James Stacy was the most handsome guy in the world. I loved Lancer. I wondering if there is ever going to be any e=reruns of Lancer. They have all the other old westerns why not Lancer. Can any one tell me where to buy both seasons of Lancer?

I thank God everyday for James Stacy. I know several good actors who are now just in videos or reruns in the television. James Stacy was and still is loved for his wonderful personality, caring, and honest overall character. We miss him so much and would love to see him in a show again. He is still remembered for his role as Johnny Madrid Lancer.
James Stacy was born Maurice William Elias on December 23rd, 1936 in Los Angeles, California. At first James wanted to be a pro football player, but when his good friend Robert Fuller took him to some acting classes, James decided on becoming an actor. He changed his name to James Stacy. James, from James Dean, one of his favorite actors, and Stacy from his niece. In 1968, 20th Century Fox began casting for a new TV western called Lancer. James was signed for the role of youngest son Johnny, along with Andrew Duggan as father Murdoch Lancer, Wayne Maunder as the oldest son Scott and Elizabeth Baur as Murdoch's ward Teresa O'Brien. James continued to land roles in TV movies and appeared in a variety of TV shows. Two years after the cancellation of Lancer, on the night of September 27, 1973, James's life was changed dramatically. While riding on his motorcycle with his girlfriend as passenger, he was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver. His girlfriend was killed and the accident cost Jim his left arm and leg. James is still remembered by hundreds of fans here in the States as well as in countries abroad.
