A real beauty
Let's celebrate the beautiful Joan Blondell with her startling luminous eyes. She left behind scores of wonderful portrayals. Blondell seems IMO to have always found the true human being in her characters. Therefore, her work is as fresh today as when she portrayed them. Love her Forgotten Man turn in Golddiggers of 1933, Aunt Cissy in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and her earthy turn as Zeena in Nightmare Alley. It was as if a special light went on when she appeared on the screen. I'm gso grateful to have classic film stations on TV and DVDs to be able to revisit Joan Blondells great work.
Ah, Joan.....from when i first saw her in Golddiggers of 1933 i've had a soft spot for this brassy, sassy blonde with a big heart and plenty of attitude. One of the few women who could hold her own against Bogart, Cagney and other screen tough guys. Wish she had been more of a star, but probably she was a bit too much for post-Code Hollywood, and they probably thought one Bette Davis was quite enough. Joan, i'll always love ya, kid!
Would love to see more of her work on TCM, especially the screwball comedies. Loved her in Deskset and recently caught There's Always a Woman during a tribute to Mary Astor.

I love to see her, especially in the GOLDDIGGER movie(S?). Any and all of her movies are great: from beginning to end (STAY AWAY JOE w/ ELVIS!). She has an infectious smile & cute, but still a beauty! I remember when I was VERY SMALL, she was a bartender on a TV Show - does anyone know the name of the show she was on? Would love to know! I watch her anytime she is on!
A Great Actress!

Joan Blondell has become one of my favorite actresses. Watching her work span the decades has been pure enjoyment. From early gangster films to later roles in westerns and everything in between she demands attention when on screen. I love to watch her films!
