Joe Sawyer, character actor born Aug.29,1906 in Guelph Ontario Canada Died April 2, 1982 Ashland Oregon of Liver Cancer. He moved to California to attend the Pasadena Play House. Joe was a great character actor in over 200 films spanning from the 1930's on into the 1960's. In the 1940's he seemed to be every where, easily playing tough guys, nice guys, coaches and cowboys. He played the part of a Sergeant in more films than anyone else you can think of. A most lasting and memorable account of him was as SGT Aloysius "Biff" O'Harrah in the TV series The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin 1954-1959
