Loved him with his scenes opposite Roland Young,Ruggles Of Red Gap,and This Is The Night.A hoot in Red Gap,esp with Ma and "Earl".Agree with assessment of his part in It Happened On Fifth Avenue.Never fails to warm the heart.

It Happened On Fifth Avenue. That is all you need to say about Charlie Ruggles. That movie at the end says what kind of man I believe he was. And if you are a fan of his that is the first movie you should see. You have probably already seen him in The Parent Trap, but see this one and then go farther back in his career. He is such a great actor/man. You can see that what he brings to the screen is the real person not just a character. It would too hard to carry it for so many years, so thanks for all the wonderful people you are.

Charlie was truly a gem of a human being, A gentleman, a consummate professional and a caring human being. A family friend I was fortunate to have him close my in my formative years- he was truly the 'grandfather' I never experienced. I was fortunate to have gotten to know him. I named my son after him and ironically he ended up in the same field!

  • Uncle Charlie Ruggles

I heard there was a family member who was an actor but I didn't pay attention. Now I'm older and seeing some of His old shows...I didn't realize just how many characters he played. It's so nice to see Uncle Charlie again. Some family photos are small and blurry,it's heartwarming to see him and hear him. Hope you'll show more of his work in the near future. Thankyou for storing his performances for all to enjoy.

  • Truly one of the Best!

Charlie Ruggles' name fits him so well, I remember it whenever I see him -- rare for a "character" actor. He is always charming and has a truly classy demeanor while maintaining a twinkling eye and an uplifting facial expression (must be those adorable dimples). He played Aunt Clara's beau on “Bewitched,” assorted grandfathers, rich men, judges, governors, and the like. His infectious chuckle is one of the best around and always brings a smile to my face. He is truly one of the most likeable actors I have ever seen and will always remain one of my favorites.
