James L Burke was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. L Burke began his acting career with roles in such films as "The Girl in 419" (1933), the Bing Crosby comedy "College Humor" (1933) and "City Limits" (1934). He also appeared in the Wallace Beery adventure "Treasure Island" (1934), the mystery "Ticket to a Crime" (1934) with Ralph Graves and the comedy "Lady By Choice" (1934) with Carole Lombard. His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the comedy "The Mad Miss Manton" (1938) with Barbara Stanwyck, "The Dawn Patrol" (1938) with Errol Flynn and the mystery "The Saint Strikes Back" (1939) with George Sanders. He also appeared in the Cesar Romero western "The Cisco Kid and the Lady" (1939). During the latter part of his career, he tackled roles in "Dixie" (1943) with Bing Crosby, the fantastical comedy "The Horn Blows at Midnight" (1945) with Jack Benny and "The Virginian" (1946) with Joel McCrea. He also appeared in the Ray Milland western "California" (1947) and the Anne Baxter drama "Blaze of Noon" (1947). L Burke more recently acted in the biopic "The Legend of the Lone Ranger" (1981) with Klinton Spilsbury.
