Richard Quine is an unsung hero of fine films. Mr. Quine worked most of his career at Columbia directly Jack Lemmon, Doris Day, James Stewart but most signficantly his great love Kim Novak who never is more gorgeous more 'Kim Novak-y' than in Quine's films. Richard Quine's love of the great star is apparent. Pushover, Bell Book and Candle and Notorious Landly are all fine films but none as fine as Strangers When We Meet where the lovely star is at her best co starring with Kirk Douglas and Walter Matthau. In his great career Richard Quine also directed William Holden, Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Roz Russell, Henry Fonda, Natalie Wood, Tony Curtis, Fred McMurray, and Merle Oberon, but again none as effective as his beautiful leading lady Kim Novak. TCM should have a Quine-Novak day.
