The first movie I watched of Jane Powell's was "Two Weeks With Love"..I absolutely adore this movie, I then watched her do a interview; in which she was asked "which was her favorite movie she had done" she told a surprised, or so he seemed, Robert Osborne, 'Two weeks with love'. I have my reasons why I think he was surprised but they are not important. What all her movies mean to me are fun and that overlooked genuine comedic timing. I have never heard anyone comment on how genuinely funny she could make a line, it still astounds me, and in fact I do wonder why she was not used in movies as a triple threat. As I said I do love all her movies for many reasons, the singing, oh boy! the dancing and of course her underrated acting. She may have been the girl next door but she would work it in many different ways.It is my opinion that over movie stars at the time where chosen to "be seen more" and Ms. Powell suffered for those. It does not matter however as long as you can look at your work with a smile , pride and a certain dignity, the story behind "A Royal Wedding" is alone something else; yet I cannot picture Garland or Allyson starring in the part, I loved Ms. Powell's take on it and always will. In closing I must admit when I am having one of those days I put "Two Weeks..." in the DVR and feel so much better in just a few minutes. Thanks to Jane Powell for persevering! and thanks TCM for showcasing each movie she has done, I love watching each one. Sincerely....

Beauty, personality, talent and a gifted singing voice! As a young girl I enjoyed all Jane Powell films and was encouraged to follow my heart and sing constantly.I sang in church choirs and eventually as a soloist and as a college student on a USO tour. Jane Powell was the unknown 'voice teacher' all those years! I rehearsed with her movie sound track albums!I still sing and thank Jane Powell for that influence! As a brunette I wished to look like the blond,blue-eyed Jane Powell! Can't copy her beauty but my blue contacts give my brown eyes their color and now color my gray hair blonde! Enjoyed seeing Jane host TCM and love the showing of her movies.Theyre 'feel good'musicals of the MGM era and Jane Powell is it's finest golden voiced star! Thanks so much! Marie

I always wanted to sing like Jane Powell. I was about 7-9 when I waited every summer for the re-release of Two Weeks With Love. It's still one of my favorite Jane Powell movies, ever. I'm 64 years old, and continue to watch her movies over and over. I never tire of them. Thanks, Jane, for giving me years and years of entertainment joy. You are so beautiful and such a talent. Just as a FYI, I was a Sweet Adeline singer for over 15 years, and one of the songs they use parts of in some of their chorus competitions is "How Could You Believe Me When I Said I Loved You When You Know I've Been A Liar All My Life". The first time I heard it sung, I said..."I have know that song for years". I had the song track from Royal Wedding at about age 13, but never actually saw the movie until I was about 25-26 years old. Pretty funny? Again, thanks for many years of terrific entertainment and joyous singing.

I'm just a small town lady with big dreams to meet Jane Powell before I die. For the past ten years I have been ill in one form or another and the last illness is lung cancer which I am now in remission with. However this does not interfere with my dreams and hopes of one day meeting Jane for nothing but small talk and coffee or (tea). Her singing soothes me so that I am able to do my light housework. My latest thing is my wheel chair...altho I can walk I can't walk far because of my breathing. I pray God is good to me and brings her close enough to my town which is very small to I can meet her.

I have always loved Jane Powell and felt that she was so natural in her performances. I was glad to see her being interviewed by Robert Osborne and how well and happy she looks. I do wish he had asked more about her songs. She had some truly classic songs in her films. Some of her best are: Love Is Where You Find It Les Filles De Cadiz Carmena Vienna Life (When It's Love) Too Late Now When You're In Love Its A Most Unusual Day

Sure, Jane Powell never really appeared in ground breaking films, but all of her movies are very entertaining. The stories are alot of the time similar, but the songs, the costumes, the humor make the movies their own. Jane Powell is an amazing singer and all of her films are just joys to watch.
