nova pilbeam started her film career in little friend on the british screen. and then came her films with hitchcock and other british films. before hitchcoccks other leading leadies joan fontaine, grace kelly , eva marie saint, ann todd there was nova. and you know it, she was the loveliest actress ever. nova came from the upper class in england and that eventually hurt her class. her career started in 1934 and it was over in 1948. she was born in 1919. her film output was few but her impact on the screen much stonger.

SHe was simply one of the most beautiful young women I have ever seen in "THe Girl Was Young" Hitchcock picked another blonde, but this one was a British pre-war variety full of innocence charm and romantic looks. We hadn't gotten to the Hollywood Monroe/Jane Russell look yet ...adn that kinda changed everything...maybe for the cheaper. This is the genuine article.
