Mary Pickford *is* the epitome of the word actor. Her dedication and determination towards her craft is apparent through her films. The first time I saw one of them, I was mesmerized. Every emotion she portrayed, I felt. When watching her, it's as if I am there. It's awful to think that she wanted to destroy all of her films. I cannot imagine having never seen a Mary Pickford film. After reading Whitfield's biography of Mary, I admire her tenacity, courage, and willpower. She never gave up. I would give my right arm to possess %1 of the talent she had. She had a beautiful soul. With her faults and all, I would consider her an important part of history.

So far, I've only seen a few of her features and a number of her short films, but all these years later, Mary still has that magnetism. She was at least as big in her time as Elvis and Michael Jackson would be in the future. She had the talent and the ambition to succeed in any era at anything she had a mind to do.

Mary Pickford is one of my favorite stars, both to watch and to read about. I've read Eileen Whitfield's biography of her, but unfortunately have only had the chance to see a few of her films. I hope to see more in the future. She was the biggest of her time, a great actress, and there has never been anyone quite like her since her retirement in 1933. I firmly believe if she was not there to help with business matters, United Artists would've failed. She should not be forgotten.

Mary Pickfor was the first superstar of the silent era and it is to bab that not alot of her movies are out on DVD. She played in many movies and I haven't seen one! But she was a wonderful actress and everybody loved her. It's to bad that she is not talked about more often today.

One of my very, very favorites. I hope more of her movies will be aired soon. May the memory of Mary's wonderful movies linger forever.

Mary Pickford was one of the first movie stars. She was enormously popular in the teens and 20s playing spunky girls in all sorts of situations but always with great humor. Well into her 30s, Pickford still played her signature character because that's what her fans wanted to see. When talkies came in and Pickford was in her 30s she tried to adapt to the new medium and styles but her fans quickly deserted her. After only 4 talkies, Mary Pickford, possibly the richest and most famous woman on the planet, retired. But she snagged an Oscar for Coquette, her talkie debut.
