An unconscious man is found in a boat which drifts to the landing of an isolated African outpost where Baron von Ragenstein (Ralph Bellamy), an enemy agent, recognizes the man as his exact double, Sir Edward Dominey (Ralph Bellamy), with whom von Ragenstein went to school. He plots to kill Dominey and pose as the dead man.He learns about Dominey's broken marriage to Muriel (Evelyn Ankers) and his relation to Sir Ronald (Aubrey Mather), head of home defense. Back at the Dominey estate,Muriel is delighted with the change in Dominey, and Sir Ronald gives the spy a confidential position.The situation is complicated by Bardinet(Edward Norris), Muriel's admirer who, like von Regenstein, is under orders from Seaman (Henry Danielle), chief of the enemy agents. Another difficulty is Baroness Stephanie (Kaaren Verne), a spy who loves von Regenstein. The jealous Bardinet tells Muriel that Dominey is an imposter and she tells Sir Ronald. At Police headquarters Dominey reveals that, in Africa, it was actually von Regenstein that was killed and that he, Dominey posing as von Regenstein, has been playing the dual role in order to uncover the enemy leaders.

They had played brilliant football for "dear old Pen" during their prior semesters, and prison coach Slim Nelson (Slim Summerville) is happy to see them back for graduate work, especially with the annual grudge game with Larson State Pen coming up. Willis, who has been named the new warden for Rockwell, gives them soft jobs and then places a large bet on the Larson eleven. Both Chipper and Darby feel badly about the raw deal handed fellow "student" Tommy Grant (Tony Martin) and his sweetheart, Helen (Phyllis Brooks), who were innocently caught up in a phoney pension racket ran by swindlers Jeffrey Mitchell (Sidney Toler) and Ray Douglas (Robert Allen), and were both jailed. When Phyllis is released from Stillwell Prison for Women, she tells Tommy about the two men and their racket, and he decides to escape, even though he has only a month more to serve, and put an end to their scheme. He plans his break for the night of the prison's "varsity show" and tells Chipper and Darby, who promise to help him. But the pair tie up Tommy and make the break themselves, dressed as women. They go to Springfield, save the victim's money, get a confession from Mitchell and Douglas clearing Tommy and Helen, turn them over to the sheriff...and race back to Rockwell to find their team behind 14-9 late in the game. Can they lead old Rockwell to a comeback victory?

Jimmy takes Trudy skating in Central Park, falls in love with her and is so impressed that he gets her a contract to skate professionally. Duke hears of her success and flies back and begins a series of romantic entanglements.

Anthony Halliday (Ralph Bellamy), brillant young surgeon, is forced to resign as chief of staff at a New York hospital when he is compelled to delay an appendectomy on the daughter of John Mitchell(Stanley Andrews), wealthy supporter of the hospital, because of an emergency operation he has to perform. The appendectomy is successful, but later complications cause the girl's death. Carol Andrews (Joan Perry), his fiancee, regards him as a failure and leaves him. Halliday, suffering from amnesia brought on by the shocks, drifts to Scranton, Pa.,where he gets work in the steel mill. He only remembers who he is when he finds himself bandaging some injured workers. The mill doctor, Miller (Edward LeSaint), asks him to become his assistant. Halliday remains at the mill under the name of John Davis. Because of many accidents at the mill, the smelter boss, Joe Kosovic (Fredrik Vogeding) is demoted. He becomes friendly with Halliday and invites him home for dinner, where he becomes attracted to Gerta (Gloria Shea), Joe school-teacher daughter. Accidents increase at the mill, and the mill's safety and personnel man, Brant (Fred Kohler), is ordered to investigate. Brant is actually in the pay of a rival firm trying to shut the mill. In school, Gerta hears Danny Brant (Georgie Billings) talking about a game called "Steel-Mill" that has a point of dropping bricks on people's heads. He sullenly refuses to tell Gerta that his father's conversations with his conspirators inspired it. Gerta inform Halliday about it, and he begins to investigate Brant's activities.
