A celebrated studio hairstylist known as 'Turpie' by the stars with whom she worked, Turpin began her career as Ruby Keeler's stylist at Warner Bros. She graduated to head of the hair department before moving over to the corresponding position at 20th Century-Fox. Over the course of her 50-year career, Turpin styled Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, James Cagney, Ronald Reagan, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Janet Gaynor and Olivia de Havilland, among others.
