J. Anthony Pawley was born ca. 1910 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the younger brother of Edward J. Pawley (star of Broadway, radio, and movies) and William M. Pawley who was also a Broadway and movie actor of some note. After high school, Anthony followed his brothers to New York City in the late 1920s. In 1929 he acted in a Broadway play titled "Subway Express" in which both of his older brothers also appeared. He acted in 4 known Broadway plays and, circa 1934, followed his two brothers to Hollywood where he acted in at least nine known movies including "Attila" (1954). Most of his movie roles were "bit" parts. He married Jeanne Kardell in 1948, however, he is believed to have married previously and fathered a child named Chrystle Pawley who acted with him in the 1958 movie titled "The Cool and the Crazy." His date of death is not known.
