Pioneer and Icon
In a time when comics dressed and acted like clowns, Mabel dressed and acted in a realistic manner, but at the same time she took pratfalls and got pulled through the mud, doing things other women comics of her generation would not do. She out clowned the clowns! An acting as well as comedic great. A star at the age of 19, a director at 21 and a legend forever.
Sublime comic genius whose timing was unsurpassed. Tragically TB and unfortunate choices ended Mabel's life lived fearlessly both on and off the set. Mack and Mabel were the beginning of American cinematic comedy genre that continues with each crazy chase and every pie in the face. I'd like to think that somewhere the Keystone Kops are still running wild with Mabel along for the ride laughing at every curve.
mabel will always be remembered :)

mabel normand was an amazing actress in the world of silent comey. She worked well with charlie chaplin as well as roscoe "fatty" arbuckle. She will always hopefully be remembered in every fans heart as a beautiful amazingly talented comediene of the silent era.
Love, love, love Mabel Normand! She pioneered comedic film in both acting and directing. Such a shame she's not remembered more.
Superstar of the Teens
She started out on comedy shorts with Fatty Arbuckle, Charlie Chaplin, and Buster Keaton and emerged after WW I as a superstar in feature films like Mickey (1918). But in the early 20s her career was destroyed by slim associations with a series a scandals. Although Normand continued making films thru the 20s most of them had limited release.
