Dr. Meacham then escapes an exploding Metalunan built Earth lab along with Dr. Adams only to be kidnapped while flying away in a small plane. A flying saucer wisks both the scientists off to Metaluna where they are held accountable for blowing up the Metalunan Earth lab during their escape. They later escape there with the help of Exeter the friendly Metalunan. Metaluna then self destructs and the Doctors make it safely back to Earth, which is saved from Metalunan invasion.

Danforth (Gary Merrill) is assigned to take over the police department in a section of a large city saddled with juvenile delinquency, petty crimes, graft and also a recent unsolved murder of a strip-tease dancer. Recognizing the laxity of the department he implements many changes and soon finds himself under fire by the newspapers, the attorney of a racket leader and the denizens of this human jungle. He calls this a cop's war that is the same as a soldier's war with the difference being that people hate cops. His cause isn't helped when a rookie policeman accidently kills an innocent bystander. And he has to protect police informer Mary Abbott (Jan Sterling) from Swados (Chuck Connors), a killer in the hire of the man behind the petty mobsters.

He is puzzled by the reception and welcome he receives from the management of the casino until he finds he has been framed on a charge of murdering a U.S. Treasury Agent. He escapes with Kay Wonderly (Coleen Gray) and they flee to a deserted village where he leaves Kay to hide out. Nick gets aid from a mysterious character named Massine (Charles Goldner), whom he suspects of trying to collect the reward offered on his capture. Nick discovers that the men responsible for the agent's death are members of an international counterfeiting ring, using the casino to pass the bogus money.
