Karen Morley: Style and Substance!
- Michael J. McCabe
- 2007-07-14
I consider it irrelevant that M-G-M, allegedly, was unable to "fit" Karen Morley into a unique screen presence. Morley's acting in Gabriel Over The White House, Our Daily Bread, Scarface and other films which she graced converted me years ago and I remain as intrigued by and enamored of her screen persona today as I was when I first encountered her in Dinner At Eight. The Morley voice, once heard, is not forgotten. She simply fascinates me!

I believe this is the same Karen Morley, born in Coffeyville, Kansas. My Mother used to have a framed picture of Karen Morley along with an article about Ralph Lane of the Lane Dry Goods Store located in Altamont, Kansas, fitting Karen Morley with her first pair of shoes. My grandmother was her aunt, I believe. My Grandmother's name was Ida McGowan Stevenson, and her mother was a Richmire. My Grandmother's two brothers, Lonnie and Orley McGowan later resided in San Bernardino, California. If you have any more information as to Karen Morley's surviving family I would appreciate receiving it. Thank you.
